同じ痛みを分け合えること いつしか喜びに変わるからeven though THE birthday's tomorrow, im writing this entry now. its not a birthday entry, its a thankyou entry. for 21 years, i have been living life the way i see it to be. and to the people who have helped me see it this way, this is for you. the dinner party on the 29th was great fun, i loved it, but at the same time i was sorry i couldnt invite everyone i wanted to. but like i said, the celebration was symbolic of giving my thanks to everyone who have accompanied me through life thus far. more photos will come of the party, but not in this entry.
i ish rove the frowers. HAHA. indulgz did everything perfectly for my celebration, like i told christin, what i envisioned and more.
i love them, they have rocked my life all the way till now, and because they know i will turn each of them upside down and burn their butts with a hundred tealights, they all arrived early. *so proud* haha. okay, you know i wouldnt do that lah, hor. i where got so violent one?
thank you, to them as well, for accepting me and loving me too! hugs. ms ang, i love the dress, please wear dresses to school? =P thank you for making uni life so enjoyable; we're all going to graduate and become linguists in our own right man. =) love you all.

is it me, or is his face smaller than me liao? wah sian lor like that. the sweetest person ever, always giving in to me, and loving me for being the unreasonable bitch that i (sometimes) am. the look on his face when i said he had to propose a toast was priceless. but, thank you dy, you're the one keeping me sane through stressful times.
you know who i wish was there with me? every single person i could possibly invite, people who have brought me up this 21 years, my family, my early school years; anyone i have met and exchanged true friendship with, hotel friends, RV and YI friends; the teachers who have blessed me with limitless knowledge, the friends who have given me unconditional love, dearest MS0501; and everyone who has ever thought of me as a friend. for my 21st birthday, i thank you all, for making me who i am today. =)

we were on digital life yesterday wahaha! im glad siyi chose the picture where i was doing the, according to andy, manbearpig rahhrahh face. but tis funny seeing the picture in print, and merlot looking so cute in maah-maah's arms. we have a new picture now, taken last weekend at siyi's house, on joan's birthday.
my ah gong is the classic man, love the balloon sculpture he has in his hand, though i have no idea what it is. and holly the new dog is in the picture now. she's sweet, but she likes to anyhow pee whenever she's excited. ahha.
vance and me. vance got his new haircut which is supposed to look fierce and intimidating on the rugby field, sorta like the All Blacks when they do their haka. but i dont think it works with his stupid fake smile. haha.

just a post to commemorate the new layout. because im freaking free and i love the colours. =) whoops. and because im still thinking about [rookies], i shall continue talking about japanese dramas. i promised chorwanting ill do up a list, but i seem to have lost my old list, so i must start from zero again. =(
people have been saying rookies is almost like GTO and Gokusen added together, yah i know. but sato ryuta is totally unlike sorimachi takashi, and actually more like nakama yukie. and the baseball theme is what keeps the drama going, you know. watch it, dammit! haha.
its jason's 21st birthday today, happeh birthday jasonn! i feel so sorry i cnt go to his party because i cnt leave for malacca on my own, too. damn. it must have been fun lah. >_< AND i was looking forward to a short break overseas. hehe. and jason's birthday means IM turning twentyone soon too. goodness. not that it really feels like a total transition, but maybe mentally there is a certain realisation that its no longer the same, really.

fangirl time! [rookies] is an effing great drama, i havent watched a drama that made me cry so much in ages. 男同士の絆って感じが好きですね、やっぱり。けんかばっかりだけど、情熱的で、感情たっぷりで、あとプライドとか、夢とか掛かってるドラマでした。im going to make wanting watch it. unless she has alr. haha.
i first knew about this drama when we were in harajuku/aoyama that day.. the day andy and darryn was permanently stuffing crepes in their mouths. this huge monster truck was making its rounds in harajuku, and GReeeeN's kiseki was on replay mode throughout. i was like, oh hey, sato ryuta in another baseball bad boy drama, cool! and that was it. it wasn't until we came back from japan and the show aired and the dvd came out before i thought of buying it to find out what it was all about.
i havent watched ichihara hayato in a drama in a very long time, since [yankee bokou ni kaeru], when he was really just a kid. but in [rookies] i think he tried is best to be furyo, including the way he spoke and everything. cue the linguist who really wants to know the gender variable differences in the way males and females speak in japan and how that correlates with age. hehe. i stole the bottom two pictures from someone's blog, because i wanted to show what i mean when i say ichihara hayato's smile is damn infectious. that's him in the top left picture in the first image. and that koide keisuke to his right can cry man! haha. everyone should watch this, esp since its BASEBALL-THEMED! oh my god, you realise once more how fun baseball is watching a show about it. love it.

so APEC has come to peru. haha not that im there, but i love APEC for only one reason - the leaders in national costume. HAHA! the links have bigger pictures to coo over.
the photo that struck me the most was the 2005 Korea APEC meeting where everyone was in the korean national dress. LOVE how koizumi junichiro looked in his hanbok. imagine that silver-haired lion guy in a silver costume, totally brings out the colour in his hair man. haha, loved it. click here for the high-res one. so cute.
im trying to find high res stuff for the other years, the ao dai vietnamese is damn cute - look at helen clark! hahahaa. damn hilarious.
the australian one is even funnier. how do you make the APEC leaders wear a national costume in a country where there is NO national costume? nan dao wear swimsuits and thongs meh? heheheh. ABC.net has a freak hilarious article on it, suggesting, hats with dangly corks, and Quicksilver board shorts. hahaha!

i had my last paper yesterday, and boy, it was crazy writing from 1pm all the way to 330pm, never stopping at all. everyone was stressed out times 20 trying to finish answering all the questions, never mind whether they were accurate or not, just put something in the blanks man. how depressing. but oh well it is all over, for the first sem, at least, and ive seen the class schedule for next sem. THANK goodness nothing clashes with french 2 and public admin elective, and everything i want to take seems to fit in okay. =)
and omgomg song frenzy! exams are OVERR and i am in the midst of procuring new songs that have been denied to me since the start of study break. haha.
not one for chinese music, but
huang jing lun's first album is out - i love 缺席, it was on my itunes repeat playlist throughout the exam period. heh. =)
also lin jun jie's sixology has a couple of good songs, love the lyrics on Cries in a Distance, thought it was not too bad.

uni woes?

in the headlines today: Half of S'poreans who apply to the 3 public unis get at least 1 offer
at least: this was what education minister Ng wrote in reply to a MP's question.
if you think about it, what does it actually mean? it doesn't really give you an answer to anything, i think.
let's break it down and think about it:
1) at least 1 offer = some (if not most) have more than 1 offer, even from all 3 unis
2) and that means that the number of places in the unis is not as much as it sounds like, yes, half get the places, but rmb some have more than 1 offer
2) also not everyone who applied and got a place, matriculated into the three public unis (eg, people who applied 'just in case' and went overseas on scholarships)
3a) that means these abovementioned people brought up the average of the grades to enter the unis, kicking out a lot of borderline cases
b) 'everyone who qualified gets a place', yah of course LAH. you didn't state what's the qualifying grade WHAT.
4) lastly, the unis KNOW that not everyone they offer a place to will take the spot, so they offer to more students, starting with the top ones
it feels like everyone has a chance, but i don't think its that simple.

somehow i like him so much better than jayyychouchou. though he still cnt win eason chan lah, but he's really not too bad. =)
im taking a bit of time off studying bilangue to post something here because i havent in a long time. right in the midst of exams now, so my mind is filled with a lot of thoughts about language and everything else. i realise while i love studying languages a lot, im not that great in analysing why we acquire languages in different ways. haha. french is really fun for me, BESIDES yannick k please everyone, because its fun to be able to write full paragraphs in a language you didnt know till 3 months ago. i still shake my head in disbelief at myself.
anws, with precious few hours left to study before i collapse into bed, here's a short shoutout to darlingest TANHUIQI as its her birthday tmr and we're all too stressed about exams to really celebrate and thank her for who she is. definitely less than what she truly deserves. =) im sorry qii, but you know i love you muchos. you've been there for me all this while, and now 21 years of your life has passed, all i wish is for our friendship to carry on till we're in our 80s and 90s, and we hold hands and wobble to our grandchildren's birthday parties. =D and i hope you can be truly happy with everything that happens in life, and don't be so EMOOO anymore k. smile more, love more, live more and forgive more. loves. and why you dont accept the IPODD!
